 Being a Maths & Computing College ICT is highly prized. The ICT department has three very well resourced computer suites plus two mobile classrooms containing laptops.
Pupils have access, and are expected to be able to use, interactive whiteboards, digital cameras, laser & colour printers and Lego robots.
A wide range of software is available and is introduced as ability and experience develops. The full suite of Microsoft programmes are utilised and a range of ‘freeware’ equivalents. There are specialised software cover such areas as: animation, digital imaging, music editing, process control and video creation available via the school network. Knowledge in these topics feeds directly into the OCR National coursework. The College is also proud to be part of the Talmos VLE which allows pupils access to lesson resources via the Internet.
All pupil have a student e-mail address and via the school web site can access their user areas and school software from home.

Here in St. Peters ICT department we believe that a deeper level of understanding of the world of information communication & technology is formed by extended projects rather than one-off lessons.
Projects are designed to be interesting and thought provoking. Projects cover such topics as: starting a business, the Wild West, organising a pilgrimage, developing a prehistoric park and theatre management.
The Key Stage 3 curriculum follows the national framework of units of study.

Introduced to St. Peter’s in September 2006 the OCR National course has proved popular with pupils and produced excellent results for pupils and the school.Â
This excellent course gives pupils the opportunity to achieve up to the equivalent of four GCSEs. A smaller group of pupils are given the opportunity to work on the OCR Clait curriculum at levels 1 & 2.
Units focus on developing expertise in such areas as:Â Skills for Business, Graphic Design, Creating Video or Sound and Desk Top Publishing.
Another year brings another set of record breaking results for the ICT department. Thus proving what can be achieved by combining hardworking pupils and dedicated staff. 91% of ICT students achieved a grade in the OCT Nationals in ICT.

Lego robot programming. Pupils are set a wide range of fiendish challengers. They must programme the robot to drive round a track, collect an object or knock down a tower.Â
For the last three years pupils have had the chance to take part in the First Lego League Challenge. This international competition gives winners of local heats the chance to compete in London (national finals) and then possibly Atlanta (world finals).

Newly introduced to Year 7 the functional skills course requires pupils to take a diverse series of activities. The aim is to prove a fundamental level of ICT knowledge.
