In the recent OFSTED inspection, the department was graded “Good with Outstanding Features”
Pupil enjoyment of the subject is extremely important. In a recent pupil survey, the following views were expressed:-
“I feel that my teacher cares about my work” - 80% Strongly agree, 20% Agree
“I feel I am making progress” - 80% Strongly agree, 10% Agree
“R.E. is delivered using a range of teaching methods and activities” - 100% Agree |

The department is committed to developing the spiritual life of the school and ensures that all students in KS3 have the opportunity to participate in a Study Retreat Day. Such days allow time for personal reflection.

The R.E. Department has seen an impressive rising trend of results since 2002. In 2008, the Department achieved a record breaking 69% of students gaining an A*-C grade.Â
Students follow the modular Edexcel specification, sitting an exam at the end of each year.Â

St. Peter’s Catholic College is a community with Jesus Christ at its core. Christianity in action is evident, all individuals are treated with justice and respect. Everyone is encouraged to be an active member of the community.
The R.E. Department is vibrant and successful, with three full time members of teaching staff. The curriculum is designed to facilitate every student achieve their full potential and the examination results have improved annually, this is one of the highest performing departments in the school. The curriculum allows students to study and revisit topics to deepen their understanding of Catholic belief and practice. Experiential learning is a major component at all levels. We use a variety of teaching methods to deliver the curriculum to encourage inclusivity for all. Differentiation is part of every lesson. Pupils are encouraged to use self-evaluation regularly and are set personal targets. Pupils are also assessed against specific criteria to inform levels, facilitate tracking, for efficient planning and reporting. Meaningful homework tasks are regularly set to stretch students and reinforce their learning in the classroom. All students are entered for GCSE Full course, Short course or Certificate of Achievement. |
