Learning Mentors
Introduction

So what is a Learning Mentor ?

A learning mentor is a non-teaching member of staff who works with students to break down any barriers to learning and who helps raise aspirations and achievement.

What do they do ?

  • Offer practical help and strategies
  • Listen to you
  • Work with you one to one or in small groups
  • Support you in the classroom
  • Help you make the best choices about moving on to college, training or work

Hi, my name is Mrs Phillips. I train people to be Buddy Mentors. I like to get involved in after school activities such as Rock Climbing.

Hi, my name is Mr Ainsley. I am head of St Thomas More. I am player/manager at Spennymoor.

Hi, my name is Miss Small. I am player/coach at Grangetown Netball Club.  I enjoy socialising with friends!

When can I see one ?

Our Learning Mentors will see students by appointment (apart from the drop in service) and each session will last approximately 30 minutes. You will be seen on a regular basis, depending on need. This may be weekly, fortnightly, monthly or termly.
